Regional Assessment Project (RAP) Website to Launch in Duluth today

Date: 6/13/2006

Duluth – The Regional Assessment Project (RAP) website will launch Tuesday, June 13, marking the culmination of several years of work by a group of partners representing non-profit, governmental, education and other community-based service providers. This website provides immediate access to reliable data for nonprofits and planning agencies to assess unmet needs in the Duluth-Superior area. It is a tool to document community needs and opportunities for collaboration. Individuals can access the RAP website at www.rapsite.org.

The RAP website features multi-year data in the following nine key indicator areas: Basic Supports, Children & Families, Demographics, Education, Employment & Economics, Health, Housing, Public Safety, and Social Capital. The RAP website provides a centralized place in the public domain for accessing accurate, reliable and timely data that tracks key indicators over time.

The final phase of the project, which is currently underway, is to transition the site into a dynamic, interactive environment where users can query information they need. Currently, users can only view the information as it is presented.

Development of the website was accomplished through the collaborative efforts of United Way of Greater Duluth, UMD’s Center for Community & Regional Research, and the following key stakeholders: Arrowhead Regional Development Corporation (ARDC), City of Duluth, City of Hermantown, City of Proctor, City of Superior, College of St. Scholatisca, Community Action Duluth, Damiano Center, Inc., Duluth Family Services Collaborative, Duluth Local Initiatives Support Corporation (Duluth LISC), Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, Duluth Workforce Council, Duluth Youth Agency Coalition, Family Forum-Superior, Generations Health Care Initiatives, Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Duluth, HRC Mental Health Center-Superior, Human Development Center-Duluth, ISD 709 Duluth Public Schools, ISD 700 Hermantown Public Schools, ISD 704 Proctor Public Schools, Lake Superior Community Health Center, Minnesota Power, an Allete Company, NW WI Community Services-Superior, Ordean Foundation, SMDC Health System, St. Louis County Planning Department, St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services Department, St. Luke Foundation, Twin Ports Area Nonprofit Coalition (TPANC), and the University of Minnesota-Duluth (CCRR, CEHSP, CLA)
