Duluth, MN…..The 15th Annual Senior Expo will be held at the DECC in Duluth this Wednesday, October 18th, from 9 am to 3 pm. The annual Senior Expo draws thousands of attendees from throughout the region and features exhibitors, live entertainment, seminars, and much more.
When attendees arrive at the expo the will receive a copy of the new 2017-18 Northland Resource Guide and a registration for the Grand Prize! The Northland Senior Expo, in conjunction with ChmieBell Tours, will be giving away a Grand Prize trip for two to Branson, MO (nearly $2000 value) at the expo. The trip is November 27th – December 2. The drawing will take place at 1:30PM and you must be present to win. Also the first 500 attendees will receive a beautiful long stem rose courtesy of Engwall Florist and Gifts.
Also new this year, The Red Cross will be at the Senior Expo sharing home fire safety information, including steps families can take to prevent home fires, but also what they can do to make getting out of the home safely more likely. In addition, the Red Cross will be providing information about their Home Fire Campaign and the ability of people to request installation of smoke detectors in their home at no charge by Red Cross volunteers or firefighters from participating fire departments. Working smoke detectors cut the risk of dying in a home fire by more than 50% and can mean the difference between life and death.
Over 100 businesses and organizations will fill the expo exhibit hall with information on everything to do with being or becoming a senior. The expo is filled with information and is presented in a fun and festive setting. In the Benna Ford Roush Pioneer Room there will be live music featuring the Chmielewski FunTime Band and Rickey Lee, performing on the Cummings Mobility Stage. Also featured at 10AM will be the Annual 100 year old birthday party presented by the City of Duluth, The North Shore Estates, Age Well Arrowhead and AEOA. Also in Pioneer will be exhibits, seating, food and beverages.
There will be seminars presented by James B. Schomburg on Social Security, Attorney Chris Dahlberg, Investigator Erik Hanson and Ryan Temple from the Financial Crimes Unit of the Duluth Police Department and Kim Schlichting from Live Simply with Kim.
A limited number of free tickets are still available at Walgreen Pharmacy Departments in Duluth, Superior, Cloquet, Virginia and Hibbing as well as from Mediqwest in Superior and Big Daddy’s Burgers in Piedmont Heights. Tickets are $6 at the door
