Northeast MN – From July 1 to September 30, 2018, the Northland Foundation staff and Board of Trustees approved 54 grants to programs and projects serving people and communities in the seven counties of northeastern Minnesota. A total of $380,225 was awarded to support Children, Youth, and Families; Individual and Community Wellbeing; Economic Development and Community Vitality; and the Rural Aging Initiative.

Among the larger grants were four awarded to support positive out-of-school-time activities and enrichment opportunities for students in the region. Awards made last quarter include $20,000 for students in Nashwauk-Keewatin; $5,000 for students in Ball Club; $20,000 for students in Greenway and Grand Rapids; and $15,000 for students in Finland.

“Helping communities to offer positive, supervised after-school and summer programming for children and youth has been a focus of the Northland Foundation for decades, through both the Grant Program and KIDS PLUS Program,” stated Erik Torch, Director of Grantmaking.
