Miner’s Incorporated, parent company of Super One Foods, is pleased to announce a cutting ceremony at its newly expanded Distribution Center facility located at 3800 W. 2nd Street in West Duluth on Wednesday, October 19th at 11:45am. This ribbon cutting ceremony is celebrating the completion of the Company’s large warehouse expansion. The expanded and remodeled 200,000 square foot facility serves Miner’s 29 grocery store locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
Miner’s had leased a number of smaller facilities to supplement its warehouse needs over the last 25 years. The West Duluth Distribution Center was purchased in early 1999 to support the Company owned stores. There were several enhancements to this location over the years to accommodate additional space required to serve the Company’s growing number of grocery stores. This latest Distribution Center expansion means additional buying power to support one of the Company’s core marketing strategies: to compete with large national retail grocery formats by providing its customers with low prices for quality products and delivering the value that customers demand.
The most recent expansion and remodel resulted in a “state of the art” facility that can handle over 13,000 pallets of product. A sophisticated warehouse software system, managed and operated by the Distribution Center’s 52 employees, is used to direct product delivery, storage, and retrieval. The Distribution Center has 23 dock doors and receives 50 trucks from various manufacturers each week. From there, the distribution facility ships 53 full semi-truck loads to its grocery store locations, delivering over 91 million pounds of food and related products each year.
The West Duluth Distribution Center has been a great central location for supporting Miner’s 29 grocery stores. This new multi-million dollar investment will strengthen the Company’s direct relationships with its manufacturer partners, increasing Miner’s ability to buy product at discounted prices and deliver the savings to its customers. Also, this facility will provide ample space and flexibility for additional enhancements that will support Miner’s future growth in the grocery business.
