Leaders in Veteran Employment Seminar Set for Friday in Duluth

1/9/2013

Leaders in Veteran Employment, a half-day seminar for northeastern Minnesota employers, business leaders and human resource professionals, is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 11, at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.

The seminar will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Mitchell Auditorium, 1200 Kenwood Ave. There is no charge for the event. Interested participants can register for the seminar at the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce website.

Attendees will learn how to decode the language barrier that may exist between a veteran's resume and the employer. Challenges area employers face in hiring veterans; solutions to recruiting, hiring and retaining veterans; and best practices developed by employers will be discussed.

Les Larson, director of corporate recruiting at APi Group Inc., will provide a company perspective. Minnesota Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon also is scheduled to speak.

Leaders in Veteran Employment is sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), College of St. Scholastica, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce.
