Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua 24th season opens Friday

6/15/2009

On Friday, June 19 Big Top Chautauqua celebrates the opening of their 24th season under its 900-seat blue and grey-striped canvas tent in Bayfield, Wisconsin. New First Night starts at 7:30pm and will feature Big Top’s very own Blue Canvas Orchestra. The night’s festival-like atmosphere will include food and beer specials as well as merchandise giveaways by Big Top, Leinenkugel’s and Stormy Kromer. It’s the traditional start of summer in the Chequamegon Peninsula.

Shooter Jennings on Saturday, June 20 at 8:15pm is the first Headliner of the season. “Shooter” Jennings is an American Country Music Singer in the “outlaw” tradition of his famous father. The only child of country singers Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, Shooter Jennings lived his first few years in a crib on his parents’ tour bus. Following in his father’s footsteps, but with his own feisty, scrappy sense of country, Jennings placed himself in a fine position to both explore that legacy and to carve out his own. A second album, Electric Rodeo, appeared in 2006, followed by a live set, Live at Irving Plaza, later in the year. Tickets: All Reserved $28
