Press Releases Local chef/caterer expands training services to region
Duluth - Longtime chef and caterer Arlene Coco Buscombe, formally of Coco’s Catering, will now offer ServSafe sanitation training classes in the region. Coco’s unique service provides on site training for groups of employees that require certification as a Certified Food Manager. She will hold ServSafe food sanitation classes in Virginia, Grand Rapids, Superior and Duluth. In the state of Minnesota and Wisconsin, local health departments require one certified food service manager be on site at each operating foodservice location. Coco teaches managers and supervisors how to train employees and handle food safely. With increased reports of outbreaks of food-borne illness and contaminated foods, the burden of protecting the public from such incidents falls on individual foodservice managers and cooks. Other industry-wide food safety concerns such as food allergens and buying from local producers are also covered in her classes. Prairie Kitchen Food Safety Training is part of Coco’s menu of offerings. She also is certified by the International Association of Culinary Professionals as a CCP (Certified Culinary Professional) and teaches cooking classes in the area for private groups.
