Press Releases Ground broken for Duluth waterpark
DULUTH, Minn. -- A tidal wave of excitement is washing over Duluth this afternoon. That’s because construction has begun on the area’s first, full-scale indoor waterpark. A backhoe took its first swipe at the Edgewater Hotel, 2400 London Road, this afternoon to get the project underway. A portion of the hotel will be demolished to make way for the huge indoor waterpark. Architectural drawings for the 35,000 square foot park are impressive, with all of the amazing features surrounded by a Polynesian theme. The park, which will be named The Edge, will have 2 four-story waterslides, a large children’s pool and play area, an exploding volcano with streaming lava and many other amenities. Planning has been underway for some time on the $20 million project, which will be built with union labor. Construction is expected to move along quickly, with the waterpark scheduled to open in the fall of 2005. Previous Press Releases:
