Press Releases Forty-third annual Bayfield Apple Festival set for Oct. 1-3
BAYFIELD, Wis. -- Bayfield’s 43rd annual Apple Festival takes center stage October 1, 2 & 3rd as the quaint fishing and orchard town on the shore of Lake Superior welcomes 60,000 visitors to it celebration. The Bayfield Apple Festival, one of the largest and most celebrated festivals in the Upper Midwest, commemorates the harvest season and apple theme with a bevy of activities including apple pie contests, dessert contests, apple peeling contests plus the best of all, the best of apple tasting all three days. Lining the historic streets of this small community that is gateway to the Apostle Islands are orchards with apples and apple treats, over 35 festival food booths, 135 arts and crafts booths, a Venetian Boat Parade sponsored by Pike’s Bay Marina, live music, staged entertainment, Apostle Island cruises, orchard tours, carnival games and rides for the family, a fish boil, and a grand parade featuring the infamous Bayfield “Mass Band” of 700 band members playing “On Wisconsin”. 2002 Native American Music Award winners, Brule, will own the Isle Vista Casino Grandstand Stage for all three days. Known as “the Native American Yanni,” Brule has become one of the top selling Native American recording artists with more than a million CDs sold worldwide. In addition, Bayfield’s own Big Top Chautauqua will perform on a second entertainment stage, Saturday and Sunday, presented by Charter Communications/The Outdoor Channel. The festival starts at 10 am each day with activities open through evening hours. Parking with shuttle service will be available at some of Bayfield’s nearby orchards and at Isle Vista Casino.
