Two of the largest promotion companies in the region announced plans to create a New Year’s Eve extravaganza in Duluth.
New Year’s by the Lake will be presented Dec. 31st at four venues: the Greysolon Ballroom, Moorish Room, Black Water Lounge and the Norshor Theater, all located in the same block of downtown Duluth.
“We’re excited to be part of a team doing this epic event for the region,” said Tracy Lundeen, president of Lundeen Productions and co-promoter of the event. He and Twin Ports Entertainment are working with the Black Woods Group and the Norshor.
Lundeen said the event is long overdue and will give people who have been staying home since the massive St. Mary’s-DECC event was discontinued in 2008 a place where they can dress up and usher in the new year in style.
New Year’s by the Lake will begin with an elegant dinner in the Greysolon Ballroom with live music by the Maxi Childs Trio followed by a full blown production titled “The Legends of Las Vegas” starring Todd Eckart in the NorShor Theater. Then, Greysolon Ballroom will be converted into a dance hall featuring Whiskey Trail Band, a country/rock and roll act. In addition, Laura Velvet & the Bookhouse Boys will wow the audience in the Moorish Room with tunes from torch singers of the 1960s as well as dance hits of quintessential Motown girl groups, and the Black Water Lounge will feature DJ Cory Bonneville from Sounds Unlimited playing the greatest dance hits from the 50s to today.
There will be balloon drops, apps, a champagne toast and party favors at midnight in all three rooms as well as a photo booth. Specially priced room packages will be available at the Sheraton Hotel located across the avenue. All elements of New Years by the Lake are indoors and accessible via the Skywalk system.
