Six join Essentia Health System

Dr. Lee Stokes, an anesthesiologist, has joined Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. Dr. Stokes earned a medical degree from Des Moines University in Des Moines and completed a residency in anesthesia at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Dr. Kannan Kasturi, a pediatric endocrinologist, has joined the Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology Department at the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic.  Dr. Kasturi earned a medical degree from the University of Seychelles American Institute of Medicine in Victoria, Seychelles. He completed a residency in pediatrics at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.  Dr. Kasturi specializes in pediatric endocrinology, which focuses on hormones and their effect in children.

Dr. Daniel Tandberg, a radiation oncologist, has joined the Essentia Health Cancer Center in Duluth. He earned a medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC. He completed a residency in radiation oncology at Duke University Medical Center.  As part of the Radiation Oncology team, Dr. Tandberg will create treatment plans that use radiation therapy to destroy, shrink, or stop the growth of cancer tumors.

Dr. Leah Heron, an emergency medicine physician, has joined Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. Dr. Heron earned a medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Mich. She completed a residency in emergency medicine at Beaumont Health System in Royal Oak, Mich.

Dr. Robert Mango, a rheumatologist, has joined the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic. He earned a medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. He completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., and a fellowship in rheumatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Mango will diagnose and treat conditions that cause pain or inflammation – like arthritis, connective tissue disease and vasculitis.

Dr. Matthew Cossack, an ophthalmologist, has joined the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic. Dr. Cossack earned a medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. and completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Miss.
