Woodland Bank has announced the appointment of Steve Jurvelin to serve
on the bank’s board of directors.
He is owner of Jurvelin Hardware Hank in Deer River. He acquired the family-owned
business in 1991 after working in the store since he was in high school. He is an active
member of the Deer River community, serving on the fire department for 27
years and is the current fire chief. He is also a long-time member of the Lions Club and Deer
River Chamber of Commerce and serves on the City Planning Commission.
Jurvelin grew up in Deer River, attended Itaska Community College and Bemidji State
University. He then returned to run the hardware store.
"I am proud to serve on the board of an organization that is so community-focused and
I’ve been very happy as a Woodland Bank customer. I look forward to bringing my
experience and guidance to a bank that truly encompasses the small town feel and
also has a history here," he said.
Brian Nicklason, president of Woodland Bank, looks forward to Jurvelin’s guidance.
