The board of directors of Northland Country Club (NCC) has named Jacob Ryan the country club’s new golf course superintendent. Ryan had been the club’s assistant superintendent since September 2007 and follows the departure of Chris Tritabaugh who was named superintendent of the golf course at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, MN. Before joining NCC, Ryan was second assistant at Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville, MN. Ryan was selected from a field of 75 applicants and seven finalists. He received his Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from the University of Minnesota where he majored in Environmental Horticulture / Turfgrass Emphasis. Club President Jay Thomas commented, "The selection committee and the NCC board of directors believe that Jake Ryan is an outstanding fit for Northland Country Club at this time in our rich history.” Designed by internationally renowned golf course architect, Donald Ross, Northland’s golf course was rated among the top 100 classical courses in the United States in 2009 by Golf Week magazine. Ross designed more than 400 US courses. In addition to daily maintenance and course improvements, Ryan will be responsible for overseeing progress on the club’s plan to restore the layout of the course to the original Donald Ross design.
