The longtime superintendent of the Northeast Regional Corrections Center (NERCC) is retiring, and a new superintendent has been named to lead the 150-bed, minimum security facility. Warren Salmela is retiring after 38 years of service with Arrowhead Regional Corrections (ARC). His last day was Thursday. Salmela began his career at NERCC in 1975, working as a teacher. He was promoted to education supervisor in 1980, and since 1998 has served as superintendent. Kathy Trihey has been named the new superintendent, effective Febr. 1. Trihey previously served as superintendent of the Arrowhead Juvenile Center, another division of Arrowhead Regional Corrections. She has been with ARC for 39 years. Previous Newsmakers Articles:
