Jean Farmakes and Bryce Nixon have joined Gilbert Law Office in Duluth.

Farmakes has a focus on real estate, business, estate planning and general litigation. Previously, she worked as staff attorney for the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in Chicago. As an in-house counsel, she practiced in the areas of trade, immigration, and labor and employment law. Farmakes has also been employed as an associate attorney at the Minneapolis firm of Foley and Mansfield, PLLP, where she did product liability litigation.

Nixon will specialize in estate planning, charitable planning and nonprofit law. She is a 2000 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School and a 1997 graduate of Macalester College. Prior to joining Gilbert Law, Nixon was associate director of planned giving for Macalester College in St. Paul, and an associate attorney with the Minneapolis firm of Fredrikson & Byron, P.A.
