Discover Mediaworks wins seventh Emmy Award

11/12/2009

Mark C. and Lisa A. Rose, owners of Discover Mediaworks, Inc., of Eagle River, WI, have once again been awarded an Emmy, television’s highest honor, by the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for their work as executive producers of the popular television series “Into the Outdoors.”

“Into the Outdoors” has been nominated for an Emmy every year since making its broadcast debut in 2001. The series is dedicated to educating children about Wisconsin’s natural resources and healthy recreation activities. It airs in markets throughout Wisconsin and in neighboring states. A complete listing of stations is available at www.IntoTheOutdoors.org.

This is the ninth straight year the Roses have been nominated for an Emmy for “Into the Outdoors” in the major category of Outstanding Achievement in Children’s/Teen Program or Series, and the sixth time they and the show have gone on to win the Emmy. This year’s winning episode, “Derailing Aquatic Hitchhikers,” was produced by Stacey Wendt-Kaisler and John Oakes.

Winners were announced at the gala 51st Annual Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 7, at the Park West in Chicago.

The Roses also serve as executive producers of the nation’s longest-running tourism television program, "Discover Wisconsin," which has been nominated for an Emmy award four times since it began airing 22 years ago. Since that time, the Discover Wisconsin team has also been nominated in videography, writing and promotional categories a total of five times, and the show’s host, Stephanie Klett, has been nominated five times in the category of Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence on Camera. Another Discover Mediaworks-produced show, "The Kitchens of Biro," aired nationally on PBS and received an Emmy award for editing in 2005.

In all, Discover Mediaworks projects have garnered a total of 24 Emmy award nominations and seven Emmy awards since 1987.
