Google Inc. is apparently planning to build a massive data center in Becker, Minn., that would be powered by Xcel Energy Inc. wind farms. Minnesota Public Radio reports on the plans, citing regulatory filings from Minneapolis-based Xcel (NYSE: NYSE). Xcel, the biggest utility company in Minnesota, would sell about 300 acres to Google for the $600 million data center and supply the Mountain View, Calif.-based tech giant with renewable energy to handle the data center's big power needs.
