KDLH sports anchor writes a book about a Wisconsin scandal
It's fictitious (of course)

8/14/2004

A Duluth TV sports anchor is releasing his first book: It’s about scandal at a college football program in Wisconsin. Nick Pelletier has the story.

KDLH Sports Director Chris Earl’s first book is a fiction novel for the sports enthusiast. It’s called “Gotcha Down”. The idea came as Earl was driving from La Crosse to Duluth and listening to a Badgers game. “Something kind of happened which just kind of spurred the creative juices as I was listening to it. So it worked out. I started thinking as much of a college football fan as I am I just kept thinking of where the sport kind of is going it seems that right now there’s another scandal coming out at a random school across the country each week.” Fictional “Wisconsin State” in Madison is the setting. The book focuses on three characters: The team’s place kicker, assistant coach, and a local sportscaster all involved in gambling. Earl says while this could be possible in this electronic age. “But now with off shore gaming you can almost place anything of almost any size and there’s really no way to trace it because it is international waters. It seems like that possibility might be looming there. If you’re looking for a big fix maybe this will happen one day.” Earl’s first book “Gotcha Down” debuts September 1st. He says he is laying out plans for his second on professional football between the Packers and Vikings and the third3rd about baseball.
