Wisconsin Dems home, Jauch lands in Superior
Story posted Thursday at 5:12 p.m.

3/10/2011

The 14 Democratic state senators returned to Wisconsin today. Laura Podgornik was on hand for State Senator Bob Jauch’s return to his northern district.

Landing this afternoon at the Bong Airport in Superior, Jauch says he’s happy to be home. He says he was looking forward to seeing one person in particular--his wife Cecilia.

“Is she there?”(Jauch)

“She’s tearing up kind of if you want to see her.”(Jacob Kittlestad)

“Is she here? Yeah, I want to see my wife. Excuse me.”(Jauch)

(laughs)

“(weeping) I was so scared when I saw the police.”(Wife)

(Jauch laughs)

But the trip home will be short-lived. Jauch says he plans to return to Madison over the weekend. He’ll be part of a rally there on Saturday.

“These rights might be temporarily suspended but they will be rightly returned to the workers of this state.”

Jauch says he has been talking with some of the high school students from Superior High, Northwestern High and Ashland High who walked out of their classrooms during the past few weeks.

“They gave us all a civics lesson on personal responsibility. They are remarkable young women and men and I want to meet them soon. And what strikes me as so remarkable is that in each case they knew that they would have to be held accountable, that there may be some consequence to their decision.”

Jauch says he will stay in Madison until Sunday. He believes the state senate will likely meet on Tuesday.
