Send a letter to the Editor ![]() ![]() News From 91.3 KUWS Telegram calls for the impeachment of President Bush
The Superior Daily Telegram has called for the impeachment of President Bush. The Telegram is the first area paper to do that, and one of the first in Wisconsin. Jay Stephenson reports. Telegram Editor in Chief Ron Brochu wrote the editorial to impeach the President and to remove most of Bush’s administration. He says this could be a growing trend with newspapers across the country. “I wouldn’t be surprised if things keep going the way they are because there’s just nothing going right. And I think the longer things don’t go right and the more deaths of American troops we see the more people are going to look back and question all the things that led up to it. And there’s plenty to question.” Brochu says while The Daily Telegram usually editorializes on local issues, the Bush administration’s Iraq policies are an issue that can’t be ignored. “We try to stay a little closer to home on the things we address but if it keeps getting worse even though we’re doing the surge I think we’ll look at it further. There’s a lot of folks from this region who are over there and in harms way so I don’t think we can ignore it”. As to whose idea it was to run the editorial, Brochu says he made the decision himself. “On minor issues it’s usually just myself, primarily myself. On major issues I usually go around and try to get an opinion around the staff. On this one it was mine even though it’s a major issue (laughs).” Brochu says he is surprised he hasn’t received much negative feedback since the editorial ran Friday. In fact, he’s only gotten one comment, in support of impeaching the President. Previous KUWS Articles:
