WITC Superior Locks of Love Hair Drive 2/22/2007, 1:30-4 p.m. On Thursday, February 22nd, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College will host a Locks of Love Hair Drive.
The event takes place in the WITC Barber/Cosmetology Salon from 8am to Noon and 1:30 to 4 p.m.
A FREE style is offered to those who donate their hair to the Locks of Love Hair Drive! This special event will help provide scholarships to students enrolled in the WITC Barber Cosmetology program as well as benefit Locks of Love.
Locks of Love is a not-for profit organization that provides recipients with a custom, vacuum-fitted hairpiece made entirely from donated human hair. In order to donate, hair must be at least 10” in length and bundled in a ponytail or braid. Hair can be dyed or permed, but cannot be bleached.
The idea for the hair drive came from WITC alumnus Marcy Keup, president of Magnifisites Web and Graphic Design. Keup plans to provide her own ponytail, as well as sponsorship for every additional ponytail donated (of 10 inches or more) to go toward a $5,000 endowment scholarship for students in the WITC Barber/Cosmetology program. Magnifisites will also MATCH any contributions made to this scholarship fund during the hair drive.
