Year Two of Mentor Connection coordinated by NORTHFORCE began with an Oct. 10 gathering at The Great Lakes Aquarium.

Fifty-five top students from the University of Minnesota Duluth and The College of St. Scholastica signed up to participate in six professional networking events, to be held over the course of the 2017-2018 school year. NORTHFORCE has matched each student with established local professionals who care about retaining talent in the Northland.

Mentors and their mentees will attend the six official Mentor Connection events throughout the year. Each themed event will cover topics ranging from personal branding to generational differences in the professional world, and serve to introduce and integrate students into Duluth’s business community.

Both last year and this year, Mentor Connection mentees and mentors have belonged to a varied cross section of industries, from Human Resources and Accounting to Technology, Engineering, Marketing, and more. With alumni who have gone on to internships and jobs at top ranking organizations (including Facebook), expectations are high for year two.

The second Mentor Connection event will be held at The Underground at 5 p.m. on Nov. 14.
