NorShore fundraising begins with a splash

From left, NorShor developer George Sherman, Duluth Playhouse Executive Director Christine Seitz and Playhouse Board Chair Herb Minke simultaneously do a cannonball after announcing 50 seats had been sold for $1,000 apiece.

The community portion of fundraising to complete the NorShor Theatre kicked off Thursday evening, with 200 people attending a pool party hosted by the Duluth Playhouse at Northland Country Club.

The Playhouse introduced its “Take-A-Seat” campaign, whereby people and businesses may contribute $1,000 to have a plaque on a new NorShor seat. As each 10 seats were sold, Playhouse leaders and others jumped into the pool.

Fifty-two seats were sold at the event.
