Duluth attorney Lewis Stockman has been suspended indefinitely by the Minnesota Supreme Court. In a Feb. 8 order, the court said Stockman committed professional misconduct that warranted public discipline. He must wait at least six months before filing a petition seeking to be reinstated. That's the suspension length sought by the state's Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility, which polices its peers. In a press release, the court said Stockman was negligent by failing to communicate on two client matters, didn't respond to communications from opposing counsel, failed to properly supervise another attorney in his law firm, engaged in the unauthorized practice of law while previously suspended and contracted for legal advertising in several publications during a prior suspension.
