The Duluth News Tribune terminated Executive Editor Rob Karwath and longtime circulation executive Tim McGloughlin Friday, Jan. 8 in what it called a management restructuring of the newspaper's editorial and circulation departments.

In a statement posted on the newspaper's Web site, Publisher Ken Browall said News Director Robin Washington had assumed the additional title as editor.

Browall's statement said the terminations were layoffs and difficult business decisions, but didn't explain why they were necessary.

It's the second high-level firing in Duluth media this week. On Monday, Fox 21 news director Julie Moravchik also was terminated.
