The Lake County Chronicle newspaper will no longer have an office in its hometown of Two Harbors.

The Chronicle, owned by Forum Communications and managed by the Duluth News Tribune (DNT), will use a new “regional newsroom” model, said a Friday story in the weekly publication. Quoting DNT and Chronicle Publisher Neal Ronquist, the story added:

"This closing is part of our long-term strategy to consolidate the many units of our group into one team, operating out of one location. This strategy reflects our position as a regional media company and not separate community operations. It also continues the strategy of directing our resources to content generation and sales, and away from bricks and mortar assets.”

Reporters Adelle Whitefoot and Jamey Malcomb, and advertising representative Bernie Bischoff will cover Two Harbors and Silver Bay from the DNT office, the story continued.

"Our business is content generation and business partnerships. We're not a destination business,” Ronquist said.
