Commercial structures demolished to accommodate new Essentia Health tower

The former Amendola Building, shown here when partially demolished, was removed to make room for Essentia's new tower structure. Construction will be staged from Fourth Avenue East, which is on the left side of the photo.

Buildings located from Fourth to Fifth avenues east on the upper side of Superior Street in Duluth were demolished over the weekend to accommodate construction of the new Essentia Health facility. It will feature a 12-story replacement hospital tower and surgery suites.
